Portraits Surreality What happened at Burning Man 99? I remember twenty breathless minutes watching a friend struggle to push his two seat airplane into the thin atmosphere of Tahoe. Vaguely I remember a texas girl prsuading a van loaded with sloshing water bottles to go uphill as I frantically stitched a leather collar. The rest is a blur of ice cream trucks and umbrellas,girls wrapped in ballons, sexual mazes, discussions of surface tension, glowing kangaroos and a boy wearing a silver wig underthe stars carrying a flamethrower.
